Severe Storms Possible Today through Saturday Night

We've  got chances for Severe Storms this afternoon through Saturday night.  Storms could develop this afternoon and evening in the moist, unstable air mass we already have in place, and then Saturday, as a cold front approaches, we'll have another good chance of showers and storms, along with severe storms.

Our primary threat appears to be large hail and high winds, but a few tornadoes are possible too, especially if some supercell storms develop.  Keep an eye to the sky and a weather radio nearby!

Warm Week Ahead!

We're locked into a summer like forecast this week as we  in a very summer like weather pattern with high pressure to our east and a nice southerly flow, bringing us high temperatures in the mid to upper 80s under party sunny to partly cloudy skies.  We could have a slight chance of pop-up thunderstorms along the way, but a better chance comes Saturday and especially Sunday as a cold front approaches.

UPDATED: Severe Storms Possible Today/Tonight

We'll continue to have the risk of severe storms this afternoon and especially tonight ahead of that approaching system which has brought tornadoes and severe storms to the Plains the past few days. The good news is that our chances for tornado development are less likely than to our southwest, so while an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out, right now it appears our greatest threats will be large hail and high winds.  The greatest risk of tornadoes appears from Southern Arkansas to Northeast Texas, with part of NW Louisiana and SE Oklahoma as well.  Keep an eye to the sky!

The cold front should not actually pass through the area until Wednesday, leaving us with dry and slightly cooler conditions Friday and through Saturday and Sunday, with partly cloudy skies and highs in the  upper 70s, low 80s by Sunday.
