UPDATE: Ice Accumulations and Potential Power Outages

While we are seeing snowfall in Southern Illinois, our biggest concern is the icing that is occurring in Western Kentucky and NW Tennessee.  Several areas are reporting in excess of 1/4" of ice coating on trees and power lines and of course that is the threshold above which we start having problems with power outages.

We have already heard about spotty power outages in West McCracken County, West Marshall County, KY, Weakley County, TN and Calloway County, KY.  Here are some tips on surviving a power outage.

We want to stress even if these figures go UP, while it could cause some power outages, it is STILL NOT anywhere near on the scale of the Ice Storm of 2009.

The freezing rain should taper off and end this evening.

Oh by the way....we could see ANOTHER round of snow this weekend.  We'll deal with that once this event passes.
