Updated Snowfall Forecast: Winter Storm Warning

A Winter Storm WARNING has been expanded to all of Western Kentucky, the Ohio River Counties of Illinois and from Ripley County, Missouri eastward to the Mississippi River, including Sikeston, Poplar Bluff, New Madrid, etc.  Elsewhere, there is a Winter Weather ADVISORY in effect.

Looking for rain, briefly mixed with freezing rain and sleet to change over to snow later today and continue into this evening.

Especially this morning, the computer models have ramped up snowfall amounts, and as  you can see below, a couple are even calling for more than 6 inches of snowfall.

It appears our snowfall total accumulations will run anywhere between 1-5 inches and a few could see even more locally!

The heaviest snow seems to be centered along the Ohio River, with lesser totals north and south of there.  The snow should begin to taper off tonight.

*Keep in mind, snow is VERY difficult to forecast, so it's better to be prepared for higher amounts, than get surprised by heavier snow than was originally forecast!

Here's a look at how 3 models are handing this system, on their mid-morning runs.
